Saguni is a political satire which missed to bang! There was high expectation on the film, with combo of Karthi and Santhanam, where they blasted in comedy in earlier ‘Siruthai’. But the film seems repetitive and it did not fill the expectation from actor Karthi.
The plot is, Karthi who hails from a village comes to city, to meet politician PrakashRaj regarding a government project. Karthi is well known in his village and sets to meet PrakashRaj since he had promised to help whenever needed. Did PrakashRaj helped Karthi, how Karthi got his work done is the remaining story.
The film has romance, where Karthi loves his aunt Roja’s daughter Pranitha. The meeting with Santhanam is a comedy roar and it takes the film to next comedy level. Radhika no doubt is seen in different look and acting. Roja has done her role with no flaw but one could not understand her sudden hatred towards Karthi. Pranitha is used only for songs and she does not have much scope in the film for acting!
PrakashRaj as usual fits the role of a politician and Nassar’s acting in the film is seen interesting. Karthi as Kamal, Santhanam as Rajini, Pranitha as Sridevi in screen is a different approach on comedy. But seeing Karthi with same body language as his earlier films is boring.
Saguni is Shankar Dayal ‘s debut movie and some imperfections could have been avoided. It seems he had concentrated more on stars rather than the story! Cinematographer P.G.Muthiah has delivered good good work and music by G.V.Prakash did not seem to impress much.
All to end is, epic Saguni is instrumental for Mahabhartha war and in film Saguni, hero is helpful for his village. Avoid all logics! The film Saguni is a mediocre and one can watch for its comedy.
